Aims & Scope

The journal aims to provide a scholarly platform for high-quality research in English language education and applied linguistics, contributing to the advancement of knowledge, educational practices, and academic dialogue on the teaching, learning, and use of English in local and international contexts, with special attention to North Africa and multilingual settings.

The journal welcomes submissions in areas including, but not limited to:

  • English language teaching and learning
  • TESOL / TEFL / EFL / ESL
  • English language curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment
  • English language teacher education and professional development
  • Second language acquisition and applied linguistics
  • Discourse analysis, multilingualism, and intercultural communication
  • Technology and artificial intelligence in English language education
  • English language studies in North African, Arab, and African contexts

Submission Preparation Checklist

Before submitting a manuscript, authors are requested to ensure that their submission complies with the following requirements:

  • The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • The submission file is prepared in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, or RTF format.
  • All references and citations are provided according to APA style.
  • URLs and DOI links are included where available.
  • The manuscript is written in clear academic English.
  • The text uses a 12-point font and follows standard academic formatting.
  • Tables, figures, and illustrations are inserted within the text at appropriate locations.
  • The manuscript follows the journal’s Author Guidelines.
  • The manuscript has been proofread and checked for plagiarism before submission.

Submissions that do not comply with these requirements may be returned to authors for revision prior to the review process.

Author Guidelines

Manuscript Requirements

Manuscripts should be prepared according to the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA Style).

General Requirements

  • Manuscripts must contain between 5,000 and 7,000 words.
  • The maximum number of authors per manuscript is three authors.
  • The manuscript must be written in academic English.
  • Authors must provide 5–6 keywords related to the study.
  • References must be formatted according to APA style.

Manuscript Structure

Submitted manuscripts should include the following sections:

  1. Title of the Paper
  2. Author(s) Name and Institutional Affiliation
  3. Abstract
  4. Keywords
  5. Introduction
  6. Background of the Study
  7. Problem Statement
  8. Research Objectives
  9. Literature Review
  10. Research Methodology
  11. Findings and Discussion
  12. Conclusion and Implications
  13. References (APA Style Only)

The abstract should include:

  • A brief introduction to the topic
  • Research objectives
  • Methodology
  • Major findings and results

Double-Blind Peer Review Policy

JIDMC follows a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic integrity and research quality.

All submitted manuscripts are reviewed anonymously by qualified reviewers and members of the Editorial Board. Authors must ensure that the manuscript does not contain any information revealing their identity within the main document.

Author names, affiliations, and contact information must be provided separately on the cover page only.

Submission Requirements

Authors are requested to submit the following materials:

  • A soft copy of the manuscript in Word format
  • A plagiarism detection report (Turnitin or equivalent, if available)
  • A signed cover letter confirming that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere
  • A short author biography including:
    • Institutional affiliation
    • Postal address
    • Email address
    • Academic position
    • ORCID ID (if available)
  • Permission letters for any copyrighted material used in the manuscript, including figures, tables, or assessment tools borrowed from other sources

Citation Requirement

Authors are encouraged to engage with previously published research relevant to their topic. Where appropriate, manuscripts should include citations from articles previously published in the North African Journal of English Language Education and Applied Linguistics (NAJELA).
